Low transparency in the system. Have to really drive the direction which seems doable to make your way but requires more effort than it could. Mainly older people are up in the ranks. You'll never see a young person in leadership in comparison to tech companies. Young is like 35-40.

In the graduate program, promotions are performance based evaluated once a year. Lots of opportunities to try out different roles in the graduate program and ability to apply for roles internally once the grad program is finished,

Ability to progress career in a technical aspect, which is my early career focus.

Performing well in your current role. Meeting competency requirements. Making your career goals known to supervisor.

Within the grad program there is a big emphasis on this, and it really comes down to whether you want to do the extra work (self promotion ect) to sell yourself for promotions

There are promotion possibilities for all employees along with international assignments. The criteria for these promotions/opportunities are stated.

Big company moves slow, a lot of red-tape and the process is more restrictive than many other companies

The process is not one that is talked about (at least with graduates) enough, consequently there is a lot of confusion about the process. Some work has been done to increase transparency about this progress recently.

Personal development representatives help you progress your career in a direction you would like to take. Promotion opportunities are based on performance.

There's opportunity to progress in purely technical roles as well as opportunity to progress into management type roles. It's all competency based, rather than time based, so if you can demonstrate competency in an area you don't need to wait out a certain time period to progress.

I have no idea of other roles being advertised in the business and my understanding of role promotion is limited.
