Interviewed for the intern program which was part of an assessment centre. Graduate position was offered post intern program with no additional interview.
Graduate, Perth
Overall pretty smooth. It was easy to applyand interview was formal but approachable.
Graduate, Perth
The hiring is all done through the summer internship program. To get into the internship program, there was an online application submission (open to current students at university and recent graduates), and then an assessment centre

The process of being hired on the Graduate Program means you have to have completed a round of cadetship or internship from the prior year to receive a graduate offer. The process was simple, however, there was limited communication from the completion of my cadetship rotation and the offer for a graduate position. This left me unsure if I could be expecting an offer.

i liked the targeted questions checking on my competence mixed with personal attributes and behaviors

What questions were you asked in your interviews?
Technical + non-technical
Graduate, Perth
A couple of technical questions were asked but majority were behavioral relating to the company's values. Don't remember the specifics of the questions.

Why are you interested in working at Chevron? Why are you interested in Facilities Engineering? Technical questions
Graduate, Perth
Behavioural based and Technical questions

Graduate, Perth
mostly behavioral questions (e.g. describe a time you showed leadership, or resolved a conflict), with some questions about balancing the conflicting priorities of businesses and the environment.
Graduate, Perth
The questions asked were STAR based and were quite general. The interviewers were very approachable and friendly. Overall, the interviewing was positive.
Graduate, Perth
Do you have any specific tips and advice for candidates applying to your company? How would you recommend they best prepare?
Don't learn a script
Graduate, Perth
Focus on the company values and think about scenarios to use to back up experiences.
Graduate, Perth
research what the company does, where it operates, and corporate mentality (look at the annual report etc.). These are useful pointers for any job interview.
Graduate, Perth
Stay relaxed, be yourself.
Graduate, Perth
Put a lot of effort into both your Cover letter and Resume. Include all your experiences, it doesn't have to relate to the work you applied for. Assessors like diversity in your portfolio as it allows them to see that you are seasoned and can think outside the box.
Graduate, PErth
Gain experience from extra curricular activities (not necessarily work) so you have lots of examples to draw from in your cover letter and interview. Time and practice your interview presentation and try and make it unique. The interviews will have heard lots, so make it memorable!
Graduate, Perth
Don't be deterred if you don't have the highest grades - as long as you are above the threshold to apply your grades will not be considered anywhere near as much as how you speak and how personable you are. Remember as an intern / grad you are NOT expected to be a technical wiz, all anyone wants is someone who is easy to get on with, eager to learn and doesn't come with a big ego.
Graduate, Perth
Balance being professional and friendly. Research the company and understand the core values.
Graduate, Perth
Chevron highly values soft skills, you need to be a good communicator and passionate about what you do.
Graduate, Peth
Research Chevron's base business and operations (what we do). Practice, practice, practice.
Graduate, Perth
No specific advice.
Graduate, Perth
Research Chevron Australia to get a good understanding of projects operating in Australia and the company values.
Graduate, Perth
Look up standard interview questions and write practice answers to them. Look up at least some basic things about the oil and gas industry and a few things about the company specifically. Practice answering the interview questions (ideally to another person) to get comfortable in that environment. If you have an assessment center component (I didn't, but I think they do now), focus on helping the people around you do well as well as yourself - it will be noticed and it will be something they're looking for. If not, highlight times when you've helped other people succeed as well as times when you've succeeded.
