Your Role

A Product Engineer's responsibilities include:

  • Investigating product issues, understanding causal mechanisms, recommending appropriate actions, and documenting results with guidance from more experienced team members.
  • Focusing on business processes such as Product Preceding Technology (PPT), Value Package Introduction (VPI), or Current Product Support (CPS), and executing technical processes including Engineering Standard Work (ESW), iDFMEA, and FIRG. Utilizing tools like 7-step problem-solving, design review checklists, and other specialized tools to ensure high-quality decision-making.
  • Obtaining input from stakeholders, including technical managers, project leaders, product and manufacturing engineers, and supplier partners, to provide information and recommendations that support quality product decisions.
  • Applying academic knowledge and experience to drive project progress and make decisions without compromising quality.
  • Handling day-to-day project details, analysis or test work instructions, and coordinating across disciplines to maintain project progress.
  • Owning problem resolution for moderately complex components, products, systems, subsystems, or services, with increasing technical complexity and ambiguity as experience grows.
  • Executing established work processes and systems independently, while continuing to develop technology or product knowledge and engaging in system and process improvements. This may include coordinating and directing work among technicians and/or temporary student employees.
  • Contributing effectively to team goals, influencing the workgroup, and developing proficiency in key competency areas critical for success in the role.

About You

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related STEM field is required.
  • A Master's degree relevant to the discipline may be required for certain roles.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

  • Entry-level or early career professional. Preferred candidates should have relevant experience in temporary student employment (internships, co-ops, or other extracurricular activities) or as early career professionals in a related technical field.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Major in Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, or related areas.
  • Experience in the mechanical design and development of Power Generator products.
  • Experience in engineering validation of Power Generator products.
  • Knowledge of engines, alternators, metal materials, fluids, and thermal systems.
