What are your thoughts on pay and bonuses at your company?
There are few formal bonus but general pay and conditions as well as opportunities for training are good - that's the nature of the public sector.

I'm very happy with my salary. I get paid more here then I probably would have been doing similar yet different work at another organisation. We do not receive bonuses.

The graduate wage at DSS is relatively competitive. All the public service wages are available online in their Enterprise Agreements so it's easy enough to see what wage you will be paid! Don't forget you get 15.4% superannuation too, which can make a big difference to your total remuneration package! The Department also pays for all graduates to do a Diploma of Government.

The salary fairly reflects the requirements of the role.

Payscales are very fair, and conditions quite good. No opportunities for bonuses however.

What are your company's best or most unusual perks? For example: free tickets, free dinners, moving expenses, taxis, pension, etc.
For me the best perk is the Flex-time. Having some freedom of choice as to when I work my hours is really handy. An example of this perk is being able to arrive or leave and hour or two early if you had a doctors appointment. In other workplaces there might be some resentment from colleagues or supervisors for you arriving late, but with Flex-time everyone is understanding and accepting. This is because they know you will work that extra hour or two on another day to make up for it.

Flex time! Something unheard of in the private sector. Very generous leave entitlements including Christmas shutdown (when the office closes from 12pm on Christmas Eve until New Years Day and you don't have to use any leave!).

My initial moving expenses were covered when I started the graduate program - that was a huge bonus coming right out of university.
