Over two years, you’ll get to:
- Rotate across the relationship banking teams within Corporate and Institutional Banking and spend time in product teams
- Work with other teams like Trade Finance, Cash Management, Capital Markets Investment Banking, and Markets and Securities Services, managing client relationships and conducting analysis on profitability, risks, and other factors involved in transactions
- Support relationship bankers and broader coverage teams across products and geographies, and work with product partners and other HSBC functions such as Legal, Credit, and Risk
- Take responsibility for researching and understanding clients for the purposes of developing business and managing risk.
- Learn how we incorporate Environmental, Social, and Governance considerations into our client solutions, ranging from sustainable supply chains to raising green bonds.
- Create client presentations for strategic meetings and pitches, prepare credit papers, analyze client information, support strategic reviews, and get involved in client planning.
- Make the most of meaningful development opportunities, focused on skills and tailored to the role you may be interested in when you complete the program

What you'll learn
We’ll help you develop the technical skills most relevant to your role. We’ll also provide plenty of opportunities to advance your non-technical skills, like communication and collaboration, that will help you move your career forward successfully.
During your time on the program, you’ll:
- Learn how to analyze a company using accounting fundamentals and benchmarking techniques
- Learn how to produce product overviews, conduct credit analysis, and create business forecasts, all while gaining valuable insights into trade finance and lending.
- Receive training in market data, and areas specific to the team you’re working with, such as market data tools and HSBC proprietary tools.
- Hone your relationship management and presentation skills, and develop your understanding of our products and services, as well as your broader market and industry knowledge.
- Have plenty of other opportunities for learning and skills development, plus people to support you along the way, ensuring you’re well prepared for the future
Virtual work experience
Try our virtual work experience in Digital Business Services. You’ll get a feel for the type of work this business area undertakes, the activities you could be involved in, and the skills you would develop on the program.

Mainland China - HSBC Bank China - Corporate and Institutional Banking
Requirements:
- Available to work full-time from July 2025 onwards
- Obtained, or expected to achieve, a 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA or equivalent 2.1 degree from a recognized University (as appears on your official University Transcript or Degree Certificate)
- Fluent in English and Mandarin
- Legally permitted to work in mainland China

In-person/virtual assessment centers are planned from November - January. We encourage you to apply early as we review applications on a rolling basis and may close this vacancy before its closing date if all roles are filled.
