Over eight to ten weeks, you’ll get to:

  • Work with supportive and diverse teams on a real business problem that involves developing, maintaining and optimizing HSBC’s technological infrastructure
  • Draw on the knowledge and experience of seasoned Engineers to help you prepare for future opportunities
  • After the internship, you’ll have the possibility to transition to our two-year Engineering Graduate Programme

What you'll learn

We’ll help you develop the technical skills most relevant to your role. We’ll also provide plenty of opportunities to advance your non-technical skills, like communication and collaboration, that will help you move your career forward successfully.

During your time on the programme, you’ll:

  • Discover what it takes to become a skilled engineer as you learn the basics of programming, data infrastructures, debugging and code readability
  • Gain experience in release management, UI implementation, object-oriented programming, responsive design and cross-platform development
  • Have plenty of other opportunities to develop your skills, and people to support you along the way, ensuring that you’re well prepared for the future

Virtual work experience

Try our virtual work experience in Digital Business Services. You’ll get a feel for the type of work this business area undertakes, the activities you could be involved in and the skills you would develop on the programme.

Requirements:    

  • Available to work full time for 3 months commencing June 2025
  • Must graduate between December 2025 and June 2026
  • Obtained, or expected to achieve, a 3.0 out of 4.0 GPA if you are studying in mainland China or a 2:1 or equivalent Degree if you are studying outside of mainland China (as appears on your official University Transcript or Degree Certificate)
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin
  • Legally permitted to work in mainland China
