About McKinsey & Company

McKinsey & Company is a global management consulting firm, advising on strategic management to corporations, governments, and other organizations. The company provides expertise on a wide range of issues including strategy, operations, technology, organization, and mergers and acquisitions.

Your role

In this role, you will help clients in the private, public, and social sectors solve some of their most pressing problems. You will also work with a range of experts in the firm, from data scientists to researchers to software and app designers.

What you'll do:

  • You’ll work in teams of typically 3 – 5 consultants, to identify, and oftentimes implement, potential solutions for a specific client problem or challenge. Together, you will help clients make lasting improvements to their performance and realize their most important goals.
  • Over the course of each project, you will gather and analyze information, formulate and test hypotheses, and develop and communicate recommendations.
  • You'll also present results to client management and implement recommendations in collaboration with client team members. In some cases, you will be asked to travel to your client site.

Training & development

McKinsey believes in strengths-based development and coaching, and you’ll receive frequent mentoring from colleagues. This will include a senior colleague from your office or practice who will help you grow and achieve your career goals. Additionally, you will have a professional development manager who manages staffing to help you choose projects based on your priorities as well as the needs of client service teams.

Benefits

If you join as a full-time employee after an internship at McKinsey, you will enjoy the following benefits which may vary by region:

  • Personal health and well-being programs, including medical, dental, mental health support, and vision coverage for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and children
  • Wellbeing initiatives and connectivity events
  • Time away, including paid time off and additional paid time off to volunteer and support charitable causes
  • Family support programs
  • Generous maternity and paternity leaves
  • Life and business travel accident insurance
  • Learning programs (including unlimited access to e-learning courses), coaching/mentorship opportunities, and feedback culture
  • Professional development opportunities for career growth across the firm
  • An international, diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment with office- and firm-wide initiatives and communities
  • Flexible working models (depending on the role, function, and individual)
  • Modern office spaces with well-stocked cafeterias/pantries

Career progression

The business analyst intern program gives a group of undergraduate students and eligible graduate students first-hand experience with consulting at McKinsey. At the end of your internship, you may receive an offer to join the company as a full-time business analyst after the completion of your degree.

Work-life balance

Striking the right work-life balance is important to sustaining a long-term consulting career, so the weekends are guarded and it is rare to work on the weekend unless you are traveling internationally.

Culture & vibe

When you join McKinsey, you will be part of a caring meritocracy. You will have a community of kind, humble, intelligent, and distinctive colleagues who will support you in your journey.
